How many trips will this take?
Implants osseointegrate before the crown goes on. That normally means a second trip 3–6 months later, so the honest question is not the price — it is whether you can realistically come back. Shanghai is a major international hub with direct long-haul flights from most of the world, so a return trip is a flight you can usually book easily — but it is still a long-haul flight if you are coming from Europe or the Americas.
| Visits needed | 2–3 visits in the first stay (consult and scan, placement, review) |
| Second trip required? | Yes — see above |

What it costs
reported ~$1,000–$2,000 for the full implant plus crown (US reported $3,000–$6,000).
Honest limit: our partner clinics are in Shanghai only, so we have no listed partner price to show you for Shanghai. The range above is a reference range compiled from our own guides. Anything real needs an examination and an itemised written quote.

Can you fit this into a short visit?
No. The placement stage fits a normal stay, but the crown follows months later — treat this as two trips, not one.
Where the clinics are in Shanghai
International clinics concentrate in the former French Concession, Jing’an, and Pudong (around Lujiazui and the expat residential areas). Top public hospital VIP/international departments are also an option for value.
Shanghai’s English-first private clinics sit at the higher end of mainland pricing (still far below the US/UK), while public-hospital VIP departments offer top doctors at lower cost. We’ll match you to the right tier.
Getting there
Two major airports — Pudong (PVG) and Hongqiao (SHA) — with direct flights worldwide. High-speed rail reaches the whole country. Many nationalities qualify for visa-free transit.
Travel and recovery notes for dental implants
Flying shortly after placement is usually fine, but plan a rest day. The constraint is the healing gap, not the flight.
Who this suits: People who either live in the region, travel to it regularly, or can commit to a second trip within the year.
